The Book Lounge of the West Wing of the New Tretyakov Gallery
2021-2022

"The Tretyakov Gallery has created a comfortable space on the mezzanine floor of the West Wing of the New Tretyakov Gallery – the Book Lounge. For the museum, this is a new step towards greater openness and attention to the needs of modern visitors.

The Book Lounge is a place for leisure, individual or collaborative work, coworking, as well as access for all visitors to the Gallery's publishing program and a selection of literature on art and related fields of knowledge.

The Book Lounge is designed for all museum guests – those who intend to read books in open access mode and those who have come to the Lounge to spend their time here with comfort and benefit: chatting with each other over a cup of coffee or working with a laptop in a creative atmosphere, connecting to Wi-Fi, using the electronic catalogue of the Book Lounge, getting acquainted with the digital projects "My Tretyakovka" and "Lavrus." Entry is allowed for adults and children without a ticket or library card.

The collection of books presented in the Book Lounge has been selected by the expert team of the Tretyakov Gallery and project partners. In total, the Lounge offers visitors up to 2,000 titles, primarily publications from the Tretyakov Gallery and its partners: catalogues and albums, periodicals, children's literature, and popular science books. The foundation of the book collection is a large collection of books belonging to Zelfira Tregulova, the Director General of the Tretyakov Gallery. In the Lounge, every visitor can acquaint themselves with some items from the extensive publishing program of the museum that have already become bibliographic rarities. Anyone seeking assistance or consultation can turn to the administrator, who will provide guidance in the Lounge and, if necessary, inform about events at the Tretyakov Gallery." — The State Tretyakov Gallery
